Tiny Kings

The only one who I could ever answer to
Main attraction of your own private zoo
I'm standing face to face with tiny kings of tiny kingdoms.
Take my hand and lead us both far away
Take my words and twist them into any shape
When the crows start gathering in, where will you run?
Where will you hide away?
We've all been patient, all your people praying together
that tiny kings of tiny kingdoms all fall down
You're taking apart the best in us and leaving it all to fate
Taking apart, the truth will rust, and nobody likes to wait
So I will believe in anything you say
I will take all the dreams that come your way
Celebrate the words I'm repeating
Your crown will rust, your kingdom is fleeting.
Take a second chance and we will see if you repent,
Call of meeting with your bejeweled cabinet,
When the dust has settled
Where will you go?
What will you do from here?
We've all been patient, all your people praying together
that tiny kings of tiny kingdoms all fall down
You're taking apart the best in us and leaving it all to fate
Taking apart, the truth will rust, and nobody likes to wait
So I will believe in anything you say
I will take all the dreams that come your way
Celebrate the words I'm repeating
Your crown will rust, your kingdom is fleeting.

White Lighters

It's always something, always something
Watch as my restless mind starts erupting.
I'll drink my water, I'm torn asunder
Let it's metallic warmth take me under
As I lay there, as I lay there
Keeping still and focusing my muscles
My words will stumble, I'm in trouble
Big ideas in tiny thought bubbles.
Scanners turn and twist in their sockets
White lighters fall out of pockets
Always turning, moving their gears
How it seems like it might take years now
I hope it's nothing, hope it's nothing
All I have is you who I am trusting
You're asking questions, I've got confessions
I don't remember noticing progressions
As I lay there, as I lay there,
Keeping still I hear your people coming
Mind is racing, body shaking,
gears are humming, machines are quaking and
Scanners turn and twist in their sockets
White lighters fall out of pockets
Always turning, moving their gears
How it seems like it might take years now.
It's always something, always something
See the nervous wreck that I'm becoming
You say it's over and that I'm ready
I can't help but look at you with envy
Now I sit here, now I sit here
keeping still I feel your people coming
It's always something, always something
I hope it's nothing, I hope it's nothing now
Scanners turn and twist in their sockets
White lighters fall out of pockets
Always turning, moving their gears
How it seems like it might take years now.
Fill me up with your radiation.

New Science

I took a walk outside to see how the lights in the big city go down.
It was my fantasy that as the sun set, I'd see all the stars out.
But you proved it wasn't meant to be.
You stopped and asked what I could see.
I asked myself out loud how come the clouds had darkened out the night sky.
You took my hand, surprised, and pointed at the buildings just beyond the treeline.
Sunken silhouettes of smoke stacks seen,
Growing up from firs that once were green.
We built ladders to take us to new heights
and from the shoulders of giants we jumped off.
We didn't mind it, we found new science.
We didn't mind it, we found new science
When they try it, they'll keep their silence.
We didn't mind it, we found new science.
I took a look around and made a note of the company I kept
Against a dreary backdrop of devastated deconstructed decadence I nearly wept.
Then I smiled knowing we had the key to another possibility.
We built ladders to take us to new heights
and from the shoulders of giants we jumped off.
We didn't mind it, we found new science.
We didn't mind it, we found new science
When they try it, they'll keep their silence.
We didn't mind it, we found new science.
We didn't mind it, we found new science.
We didn't mind it, we found new science
When they try it, they'll keep their silence.
We didn't mind it, we found new science.
